The problem

Older adults living alone need a voice they can use in Cantonese: a reminder to take medicine, someone to talk to, and a way for a story they tell once to stay in the family. A companion that assumes fluent English, or a screen that asks for several taps, does not fit that room.

Role

Co-founder and developer since February 2026. As part of a 10-person team, designed and prototyped the voice companion: medication reminders, companionship, and life recaps drawn from chat history.

What shipped

Android v3.1.1 beta went out on 3 October 2026. The install is about 303MB because it includes an offline speech model. It is a test build, the functions are not fully stable, and a stable release is still in development. The home screen speaks first: a greeting, one microphone, health, the day’s schedule, a saved memory, and an emergency button.

What the product does

It speaks Cantonese and takes spoken replies, including offline. The public site sets a 26px base type size, one primary action on a screen, and one account that can hold three roles: the older adult, the family, and the social worker. Stories told in chat can be gathered into a life recap. The product page does not state how many people use it, so this page does not invent a user count.
